Little is known about Mattie and her family between the years
of 1880 and 1900.
On May 15, 1886, Minnie Gray married James Harvey Crabtree
(born June 3, 1861, Ohio) They are listed on the 1900 census of the Chickasaw
Nation in Twp 4 N, R 1 W, in the town of Paoli. James’
occupation is listed as ‘Day Labour’. By 1900 Minnie had given birth to 5
children with 4 still living.

Henry’s daughter, Lillie, married John D. Wilson (born August
4, 1863, Texas) sometime around 1887. They are on the 1900 census living in
the Chickasaw Nation, Twp 2 S, R 7 W, in the town of
Comanche. John’s occupation was “Stockman” Lillie’s father, Henry L. Mann
now 75 yrs old, is living with them. By 1900, Lillie had given birth to 9 children
with 5 still living. They were the parents of:

Ada F. Mann married Phillip A. Starr (born November 1867,
Illinois) about 1896. Their family is listed on the 1900 census of the
Chickasaw Nation in Twp 9 N, R 4 W (north of Blanchard).
Ada’s mother, Mattie V. Mann was living with her daughter by this time. Phillip’s
occupation is listed as ‘country grocer’. They were the parents of:
Claud & Chloe Starr, born in July 1897 (twins) in Oklahoma
Hollis Starr, born in May 1899 in Indian Territory
Phillip A. Starr, born in 1901 in Oklahoma
Herbert N. Starr, born in 1906 in Oklahoma
Adabel Starr, born about 1912 in Oklahoma
Although, Henry and Mattie were living apart by the year
1900, it is unknown if they were divorced.
On March 11, 1900, William H. Gray married Mary Castleberry
(born March 1881, Arkansas) in Paoli, Oklahoma. They are listed on the 1900
census of the Chickasaw Nation in Twp 5 N, R 1 E (near the
border of McClain and Garvin counties). His occupation is ‘cattle herder’.
They were the parents of two sons and two daughters:
Tommy J. Gray, born about 1901in Oklahoma
Ina Bell Gray, born about 1903 in Oklahoma
Ernest H. Gray, born about 1906 in Oklahoma
Willie Gray, born about 1907 in Oklahoma
Thomas M. Gray was in the
Spanish-American War which lasted from 1898 - 1899. He served on a ship in
Cuba and his job was to pack shells. Also, Tom owned a butcher shop in Rush
Springs probably between 1900 and 1906.
Tom appears unmarried on the 1900 census of the
Chickasaw Nation in the town of Marlow. He was renting a home. His
occupation on this census is illegible. (Provision duty?)
Tom used to go on
trail drives before he was married, sometimes to New Mexico and Wyoming.
Henry died January 20, 1904. He was buried in Comanche,
Oklahoma, in the Old Fairlawn Cemetery, Section II in the Wilson family
plot, alongside the infants and children that John and Lillie lost.
